Creating clarity. Building systems. Moving literacy forward.

Student growth has plateaued. Instruction varies from classroom to classroom. The same literacy challenges keep resurfacing, despite everyone’s best efforts.

I partner with elementary and middle school leaders to uncover the literacy systems that are supported, neglected, or missing so they can make informed decisions that lead to consistent instruction, stronger teaching, and lasting literacy improvement.

The result is more than a plan. It’s a school where educators share a clear vision, instructional practices become more consistent, and systems work together to create sustainable student growth.

If you’re ready to move literacy forward, let’s start by understanding the systems driving the work.

Schools don’t struggle because educators don’t care.

In every school I’ve worked with, I’ve met talented teachers, dedicated instructional coaches, and leaders who genuinely want the best for students. Yet even with committed people, literacy improvement can stall. Instruction varies from classroom to classroom. Teams revisit the same challenges year after year. Everyone is working hard, but the results don’t always reflect that effort.

After more than 30 years in education as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, literacy specialist, librarian, and school leader, I’ve learned that lasting improvement doesn’t come from working harder or adopting another initiative. It comes from understanding the systems that shape everyday teaching and learning.

That’s the work I love.

I partner with elementary and middle school leaders to identify the literacy systems that are supporting success, the ones that have been neglected over time, and the ones that are still missing. Together, we build practical, sustainable structures that create clarity, strengthen instruction, and move student learning forward.

My approach is grounded in partnership. Every school has unique strengths, challenges, and a story that deserves to be understood before solutions are offered. Rather than arriving with a one-size-fits-all answer, I work alongside leaders and educators to uncover what is already working, strengthen what needs attention, and build systems that can be sustained long after my work is done.

Because the goal isn’t simply to improve literacy.

It’s to create the conditions where great teaching can flourish and every student has the opportunity to grow.

If that sounds like the kind of partnership you’re looking for, I’d love to start the conversation.
